Georgina Arias

Founder & General Manager of Chronikas Tributarias, CPA and lawyer on Mexican tax matters over the three decades.

Professional Experience

In the private sector, she was part of the tax department in KPMG. In the public sector, she also worked as the general manager of the Procuraduría Fiscal de la Federación (Tax Prosecutor Office). During the time working for this ministry, she was in charge of filing countersuits against Tax laws or amparos against laws. Also, she collaborated in the Servicio de Administración Tributaria (Tax Administration Service) as responsible for the Central Tax Administration of Consolidated Tax Groups.

Her praxis in the tax legal area (advisement & judicial controversies) as well as in accounting issues and in the private business and public sector enables her to have a documented and comprehensive opinion of the tax implications derived from the transactions carried out by individuals and economic entities.

Her role in the Tax Prosecutor Office involved the development and application of strategies to defend a lawsuit filed by private individuals and companies before the Federal Tribunals as well as the Mexican Supreme Court.

Additionally, she continuously participated in the development of tax proposals filed to the National Congress (“Congreso de la Unión”) and the corresponding monitoring of such projects.

Inside the Tax Administration Service, she coordinated the tax reviews of Large Taxpayers (Multinational & National) and settled the collection of the taxes due by business groups.

As in the Tax Prosecutor Office, she collaborated with the proposals to amend some legal provisions of tax laws as well as administrative regulations.
